Dynamic Converter - How Much For…?

This is an amazing tool. Dynamic Converter is an application you can put on your site to display many types of currencies. This is the first time I’ve seen this company and I’ve got to say, I’m going to find a lot of needs for this in the future.

Looks like the feeds are brought to you by AJAX, which I’m becoming more and more fond with every day. If you have an ecommerce website or sell products to a global market, this tool is just what you’re looking for. Highly recommended!

Website Grader - Find information on your competitors

I was reading Aaron Wall’s blog about tracking progress of your competitors in the search engines and ran across a comment that took me to Website Grader.

Website Grader is a fascinating tool that tracks a multitude of variables, which include:

- Google Pagerank
- Alexa Rank
- Technorati Rank
- Google Inbound Links
- Yahoo Inbound Links
- De.licio.us Counts
- Google Indexed Pages
- Google Rankings
- Digg’s and Counts

Also gives suggestions for increasing conversions on the site and other helpful hints. When the report is finished, an emailed link is sent to you, which is great. I hate to wait for reports to finish, only to find out it timed-out and isn’t showing the report properly.

Good job guys!

Ask SEM Inc. - How to get more backlinks from Google?

Today’s question comes from a poster over at the DP forums, he asks:

My site is have PR4 but the backlinks from google is very small. What are the best methods to get backlinks from google?

I hear this question quite frequently.

The link: command in Google is a funny tool nowadays. Since Google knows only webmasters, SEO and marketing people use the link: command, they decided to get a little tricky with all of us. The link: command only shows a small sampling of the true amount of backlinks Google has found.

A better subsitution would be to use Yahoo!. Yahoo! isn’t stingy with what they show you.

Another tool you can use, if you still want to use Google, is Google’s Webmaster Central. Their are a host of tools to use in this section. If you’d like to know if you’re getting incoming links to deep pages of your site, Webmaster Central will show you where they’re coming.

If you’re looking for desktop application, Aaron Wall’s Backlink Analyzer is an amazing FREE software that I’ve used over and over again. Really robust.

SEO.com - SOLD!

Wow, I can’t believe the price tag - $5,000,000. Yup, you read that right, 5 million dollars. DotSauce is where I found out about this. That domain has you pigeon-holed into only that industry. SEO is advancing into much more then just search engine optimization. Here at SEM Inc., we chose search engine marketing because its not just about getting rankings from search engines or paying to get there, but its about landing pages from search engines, its about conversions, stats and revenue. Even though “SEM” stands for “Search Engine Marketing”, I might change it to “Simply Effective Marketing”. :) But that’s besides the point…kind of drifted there.

With $5,000,000 you could definitely start a number of companies. Guy started Treumors for $12,000. If that’s all it takes to build out Web 2.0 sites, think if you had a $5 million budget. You could launch 2 Web 2.0 applications a week for a year at that budget.

Good luck Mike with your new domain.

Happy Father’s Day

I just wanted to say HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the Dads out there in SEO Land. For those of you not in the US, today is Father’s day. It’s a day we celebrate “DADS” and everything they’ve done for us…and undoubtable, continue to do for us every day, month and year.

What did I do with my Dad today?
Well, my brother and Dad drove down to Huntington Beach with their bikes. I’m about a mile away from the beach, so we hoped on the bikes and went down to Main street for some lunch at HB Beer Co. After lunch, we had a nice bike ride to Newport Beach. Then we rode back to HB to catch the new Fanstastic 4 movie (which was awesome).

What did you do for your Father’s Day?

Ask SEM Inc. - Supplemental Indexing - When?

Today’s question comes from Spiceboy over at the WebproWorld forums. He asks:

Can anyone tell me how often the Supplemental Index is er..indexed? Is it a daily process, weekly, monthly, quarterly?

The supplemental index is categorized when the main index comes through. When the crawler comes through your site, caches all the pages, some pages are put in the main index and then others are put through the supplemental index, based upon the multiple filters that are in place to find pages that trigger those filters.

So, to answer you question specifically, whenever the search engine bots index your site. If you have a site that is indexed daily, they the supplemental index will be re-indexed with your pages…or without your pages.
